Three Rivers Business Alliance (3RBA) is a membership-based, business advocacy organization dedicated to making the Pittsburgh/Greater Allegheny Region an influential and diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other nonconforming persons (LGBTQ+) business community by promoting economic development and growth through equal opportunities, insightful education, effective leadership, and lasting partnerships.

3RBA seeks an experienced Accountant or Finance Manager to join our Board to help provide oversight, guidance, and support our growth aspirations.  It is an exciting time to join the 3RBA team, as we are seeking to diversify our funding model and expand our portfolio of services.  Ideally, we are seeking a volunteer who has a connection or experience with the LGBTQ+ community; however, this is not mandatory.

About the Role

The basic function of the Treasurer is to take responsibility for financial reporting and management of the organization. This includes:

•Being directly involved with developing the annual budget. As we win new funding and expand into new services, this includes reviewing the budget to account for new revenues and expenses;

Reviewing monthly account records and monitoring income and expenditures;

Preparing, producing, and/or presenting of monthly and quarterly reports to the Board and Executive Committee;

•Ensuring the financial requirements of funding bodies are met;

•Providing information to ensure Board members understand the financial reports and increase the capacity of all members to understand the budget and financial position of the organization;

•Ensuring 3RBA's financial accounts are audited in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and are presented to members at the Annual General Meeting; and

•Ensuring 3RBA's funds are being managed within legal requirements, funding requirements, and organizational policy and procedure.

The Treasurer is required to attend all scheduled Board and Executive Committee meetings and actively seek to maintain current knowledge of the organization, its programs, bylaws, and articles of incorporation. The Treasurer is required to have knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, nonprofit tax laws, and fiscal record-keeping.

The Treasurer is chair of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee is charged with developing 3RBA's fiscal policies and procedures and developing the budget.  The committee oversees annual audits and reviews the audit report.

3RBA seeks an Executive Director who will be a dynamic, visionary leader with a strong equity lens to guide 3RBA and its foundation in setting and routinely evaluating the relevancy of their mission, and to implement their policies and programs. The preferred candidate will have a compelling mix of experiences, skills, personal characteristics, and motivations to lead, manage, and advance the organization’s initiatives, grantmaking, evaluation, and civic engagement.

About the Role

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of 3RBA and its foundation, including all personnel, fiscal, and operational matters.  The Executive Director will provide leadership and oversight on activities related to all programs and services, fundraising and resource development, and outreach and community building.  The Executive Director is expected to work closely and collaboratively with the Board of Directors and the Officers on all matters involving 3RBA and its foundation. 

Major areas of responsibility will include:

  • Administration:  The Executive Director shall be responsible for the overall operation of the activities of 3RBA and its foundation, including reviewing and evaluating the results of program activities; ensuring that continuing contractual obligations are being fulfilled; allocating resources for greater program effectiveness and efficiency; developing organizational, administrative and program objectives and procedures; and budgeting, staffing, and managing day-to-day operations.
  • Fundraising: Much of the Executive Director's work will center around building on efforts already underway to grow financial support through annual giving and an endowment.  Additionally, the Executive Director is expected to lead efforts to look at diversified funding sources including grantmaking and earned revenue potential.
  • Advocacy/Outreach: The Executive Director will serve as the “face” of 3RBA and its foundation, and work to increase membership in and sponsorships of 3RBA and its foundation.
  • Relationship Building: The Executive Director will be responsible for establishing and growing strong partnerships with board members, clients, donors, politicians, corporations, foundations, and community organizations.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Deep commitment to and passion for LGBTQ+ rights required.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership required.
  • Extensive experience with volunteer and program management strongly preferred.
  • Senior nonprofit management experience and established donor relationships strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience executing fundraising strategies and managing donor relations unique to nonprofit sector required.
  • Experience writing and overseeing the process for successful grant proposals strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong writing and public speaking experience and skills, and be able to represent 3RBA and its foundation in a variety of settings, including the media.
  • Track record of taking initiative and successfully leading programs/projects from start to finish required.
  • Comfortable working remotely and using online communication tools (G Suite, Wild Apricot, Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience with product management and/or the technical development process is a plus.
  • Willingness to make a minimum 2-year commitment to this role.

Salary and Benefits 

The Executive Director position may be a part-time or full-time, exempt status position, requiring a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Starting salary on a full-time basis is $40,000 a year; part-time salary shall be calculated on the hourly equivalent of $19.23 (based on working full time at 40 hours per week for 52 weeks a year).  Incentive bonus is available, subject to board discretion.  There are no other benefits.
