Sexual Orientation Gender Identity Expression (SOGIE) Training

Everyone has a sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE). As such, each person’s journey of self-awareness and expression is unique and individualized according to their culture, environment, and lived experiences. This training introduces participants to a social identity framework focused on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. In addition to learning about SOGIE in the context of social identities, participants will also review best practices to enhance interpersonal and professional relationships with clients and peers who identify as LGBTQ+ or have diverse/expansive SOGIE.

Objectives:

1. Understanding WHY we are discussing SOGIE
   
2. Introduction to social identity framework
3. Understanding the difference between assigned sex, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation
4. Develop practices, language and policies that support diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

• Professionals who work with or seeks to support the LGBTQ+ community
• Participants who can be individuals who directly work with others or be involved in supervision, management, and leadership
• Case managers, social workers,  case supervisors, program staff, program managers, program directors, quality assurance
