General Description

Three Rivers Business Alliance (3RBA) is a membership-based, business advocacy organization dedicated to making the Pittsburgh/Greater Allegheny Region an influential and diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other nonconforming persons (LGBTQ+) business community by promoting economic development and growth through equal opportunities, insightful education, effective leadership, and lasting partnerships.

3RBA seeks an experienced Accountant or Finance Manager to join our Board to help provide oversight, guidance, and support our growth aspirations.  It is an exciting time to join the 3RBA team, as we are seeking to diversify our funding model and expand our portfolio of services.  Ideally, we are seeking a volunteer who has a connection or experience with the LGBTQ+ community; however, this is not mandatory.

About the Role

The basic function of the Treasurer is to take responsibility for financial reporting and management of the organization. This includes:

•Being directly involved with developing the annual budget. As we win new funding and expand into new services, this includes reviewing the budget to account for new revenues and expenses;

Reviewing monthly account records and monitoring income and expenditures;

Preparing, producing, and/or presenting of monthly and quarterly reports to the Board and Executive Committee;

•Ensuring the financial requirements of funding bodies are met;

•Providing information to ensure Board members understand the financial reports and increase the capacity of all members to understand the budget and financial position of the organization;

•Ensuring 3RBA's financial accounts are audited in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and are presented to members at the Annual General Meeting; and

•Ensuring 3RBA's funds are being managed within legal requirements, funding requirements, and organizational policy and procedure.

The Treasurer is required to attend all scheduled Board and Executive Committee meetings and actively seek to maintain current knowledge of the organization, its programs, bylaws, and articles of incorporation. The Treasurer is required to have knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, nonprofit tax laws, and fiscal record-keeping.

The Treasurer is chair of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee is charged with developing 3RBA's fiscal policies and procedures and developing the budget.  The committee oversees annual audits and reviews the audit report.
